When choosing to buy moving boxes, keep these tips in mind:
Don’t Over Stuff Moving Boxes:
The rule of thumb is to try and keep all the boxes under 20kg of weight, remember you might have to move them yourself at a later stage. Specifically, boxes containing electronic goods tend to be heavier.

Common Box sizes:

  • 1.5 cubic foot moving box (16 x 12½ x 12½ inches):
This is the most common box and can easily carry up to 25kg and is great for carrying books, dishes and small appliances.
  • 3.0 cubic foot moving box (18 x 18 x 16):
It can easily accommodate 32kg but remember not to over load this box. Best option for clothing, pots, pans and electronics.
  • 4.5 cubic foot moving box (18 x 18 x 24):
These slightly bigger boxes are useful for larger lamps, linens and kitchen utensils.
  • 6.0 cubic foot moving box (22 x 22 x 21 ½):
This box can become very heavy if you stuff it, remember to keep it less heavy by fitting items like pillows, blankets or cushions.
  • 6.1 cubic foot moving box (24 x 18 x 24):
This is a rectangular box and can easily fit larger comforters, blankets which cannot fit into 6 cubic boxes.
